Illusion of Lowlife: A Secret History of the Atlanta Underground
Music Scene
by Chad Radford
Between 1984 and 1992 LowLife Magazine grew from an erratic, homemade
fanzine into a vehicle for sharp criticism, fiction and artwork.
From punk, jazz, new wave and no wave to the extreme avant-garde
the magazine chronicled Atlanta's primordial ooze of art-damaged
sonic asethetics and their relation to the rest of the world. We're
trying to preserve the beauty of it all, in print and sound.
